EPL: Chelsea and Aubameyang reach a deal

Premier League powerhouse Chelsea and Barcelona forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang have agreed to terms for a deal.

A “complete deal is now signed” between Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, his camp, and Chelsea about the player’s contract, according to Fabrizio Romano on Twitter on Thursday.

The transfer expert also said that Barcelona and the Blues were still negotiating to complete a deal before Thursday’s transfer window deadline. The 33-year-old striker has been offered a two-year deal.

There is a possibility that it might be extended beyond the original two years, according to an option. A player’s assent to terms is usually advantageous since it would save the club from having to deal with them again should they and the club eventually come to an agreement over a transfer.

The only obstacle standing between Chelsea and the Gabon international currently seems to be Barca. After joining Barcelona from Bayern Munich, manager Xavi Hernandez is aware that Robert Lewandowski will be the one to spearhead the team’s offensive efforts this year.

Aubameyang may be a wise short-term investment.

The 33-year-old is now left hanging and dry. He joined the Camp Nou team earlier this year in January after leaving Arsenal, but the club might potentially move him after bringing in Lewandowski.

Romelu Lukaku moved for Inter Milan on loan, and Timo Werner signed a contract to join them permanently earlier this summer, leaving Chelsea without a striker to start the current season.
