EPL: Klopp reacts as Darwin Nunez scores four goals against RB Leipzig

Darwin Nunez scored four goals as Liverpool defeated RB Leipzig 5-0 in a preseason friendly, according to manager Jurgen Klopp, who called it the “ideal” reaction to the criticism.

Nunez signed for £85 million from Benfica earlier this month, but some supporters have criticized him for his work in the team’s first two exhibition games against Manchester United and Crystal Palace.

But when he came off the bench to score four goals at the Red Bull Arena, the Uruguayan striker regained his form.

The box of Pandora was unlocked for Darwin, and it was obviously the ideal night for him, according to Klopp.

“We often assume that if you spend a lot of money, the players won’t feel any pressure, but they are entirely regular people!

“And if the first touch isn’t flawless, players in this generation read social media, which is really not wise. Still, they do.

“You suddenly become hurried. The greatest way to end all of these conversations, though, is tonight.

“He’s different from the strikers we now have, but he’s a pretty excellent one,” the coach said.

Nunez managed to score 34 goals for Benfica in 41 games last year.
