EPL: Saliba is compared to a Man Utd icon as Arsenal defeats Crystal Palace by Gary Neville

Gary Neville, a former defender for Manchester United, praised William Saliba for his performance in his Premier League debut for Arsenal.

Saliba is compared by Neville to a “young Rio Ferdinand.”

The 21-year-old, who paid a high price to join the Gunners back in the summer of 2019, had not played a single league game for the team prior to Friday’s 2-0 victory against Crystal Palace.

But after spending the previous season on loan at Marseille, Saliba was finally forced into first-team action.

The Frenchman took full use of his opportunity to make an impression and even won the match ball to round out a flawless evening for the Gunners.

Neville then compared Saliba to an ex-teammate of his during his time at Manchester United and for England.

“I believe that playing is the most crucial thing for young players,” remarked Neville. He has football in him, and he really impressed me. I saw a young Rio Ferdinand in him.

The Premier League’s away game against Crystal Palace is challenging. They approach you. He has a big night coming up.
