Manchester United and Juventus both won their away matches against Real Betis and Freiburg on Thursday to advance to the quarterfinals of this season’s Europa League.
United defeated Betis 1-0 in the return match to win the series 5-1 after winning the first leg 4-1 at Old Trafford.
With Casemiro’s help, Marcus Rashford scored the sole goal for United in the 55th minute.
In the 45th minute, Juventus took a 1-0 lead thanks to a goal by Dusan Vlahovic after his original attempt was disallowed for offside.
Manuel Guide was sent off after blocking a goal-bound shot with his arm. The penalty was then given.
Federico Chiesa then scored the second goal in the 95th minute to give the Serie A giants the victory.
In other games, Feyenoord thrashed Shakhtar Donetsk 7-1 for an overall score of 8-2 while Sevilla lost 1-0 away to Fenerbahce but advanced 2-1 on aggregate.
