Katsina cops murder a nine-year-old and attribute it to hoodlums.

In connection with a New Year’s Day altercation between the police and several hoodlums that ended in the death of a nine-year-old kid, three individuals have been detained in Katsina State.

A second kid who was shot during the event and suffered a gunshot wound was sent to the Federal Teaching Hospital in Katsina.
The news was verified on Sunday by SP Gambo Isah, the state police command’s spokesperson.

He named the accused as Abubakar Hassan, 22, Abdulganiyu Yusuf, 20, and Abubakar Abubakar, 22.

Muhammad Jawwad, age nine, was killed, while Muhammed Aliyu, age 16, was injured, according to a police spokeswoman.
According to the spokesperson, problems began when police officers on patrol went to the settlement of Sabuwar Unguwar in response to a distress call.

He said that several hoodlums known as Kauraye confronted the police.

He said that one of the criminals shot the kid and the adolescent after one of the hoodlums tried to disarm a sergeant.

In the altercation, two patrol motorbikes and a police car were also damaged.

“During the course of the inquiry, the suspect, Abdulganiyu Yusuf, 20, was located and taken into custody,” Isah stated. He said that the altercation with the cop that resulted in the shooting was his fault.

In connection with the incident, two further suspects, DJ Abubakar Abubakar, 22, and Abubakar Hassan, 21, were detained. They provided insightful testimony and are helping the police with their inquiries.

The Kauraye thugs destroyed a police patrol car, a Golf, and two patrol motorbikes while they were scouting the area. A long stick, two knives, and four machetes were also found at the site. Additionally found were two large speakers, an amplifier, a laptop, and a generator.

Isah continued by saying that Shehu Nadada, the state’s commissioner of police, has expressed sympathy to the families of the wounded and the dead.
