Morocco will be challenging to defeat, according to Super Falcons coach Waldrum at WAFCON 2022

In advance of Monday’s Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) semifinal match, Randy Waldrum, head coach of Nigeria’s women’s national team, acknowledged that Morocco represents a significant challenge to him.

With a 1-0 victory over Cameroon in the quarterfinal, the Super Falcons advanced to the semifinals.

For the hosts, they defeated Botswana 2-1 to get to the semifinals, which was their best showing since their 1998 debut.

Waldrum believes the Lionesses of Atlas have a chance when the two nations square off at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat, even if Nigeria may be the favorites to advance to the final.

Waldrum told the Caf website, “I saw them for the first time in September and I was quite impressed by the quality of their team and by the game they play.

“I declared that they are the team that can surprise as soon as I came in Morocco. I’ve been aware of this team’s evolution for three years.

They’re one of the top teams in the competition and can defeat any squad.

“We admire Morocco and their performance in this competition. It’s a major obstacle for us.

Although many people consider us to be favorites and we do have a lot of experience, anything can happen in football, so we must be prepared for this game.
