On “Small Business Saturday,” shoppers in the valley support regional small businesses.

This Christmas season, small company owners are working nonstop. Many of them are engaging in “Small Business Saturday” in addition to Black Friday sales.

For Saturday’s Art on the Main Street in La Quinta, a number of valley shoppers came to do some Christmas shopping.

Peter Liljequist, one of them, declared: “This is special, you know, you have individual artists here and you discover stuff here, you can’t find the department store or anyplace else. These unique things are being sold. That’s why we found it appealing.

The outdoor market has a number of merchants offering a range of goods, from stationery to jewelry.

The proprietor of Hand Sewn Stationary, Lissa Malone, saw a flood of clients throughout the morning.

Malone sells her cloth notecards all around the valley and claims this Saturday will be successful.

“The reaction has beyond my expectations. I anticipated a respectable crowd. Malone adds, “I didn’t realize how good of a turnout.

The proprietor of Molly Moon Crafts, Molly Standley, also has a devoted following across the region.

She decided to put up a pop-up store in a local market in Palm Springs for “Small Business Saturday” rather than only concentrating on online sales.

“I believe that this year’s Black Friday put a little strain on me since I had to virtually compete with the larger firms and hold these discounts. And I want to uphold my ideals this year. Additionally, simply advertise that Saturday, we’ll be here, and see where my customer is, adds Standley.

Small-business owners and customers alike recognize the benefits of doing business locally.

“Support local businesses by making purchases there. They won’t be there if you don’t, however. So remember that, support the economy, and enjoy your vacation, advises Liljequist.
