One week before the wedding, gunmen assassinate an Imo bride-to-be.

An intended couple was slain in Imo State by suspected hoodlums.

The victims, Ifechukwu Martin and Gloria Mba, were murdered on Tuesday in Arondizuogu in the state’s Ideato North Local Government Area. Their wedding was scheduled for January 18, 2023.

The event, which led to fear in the neighborhood, also resulted in the death of the groom’s brother, who was driving them.

According to a local who talked to media on the condition of anonymity, the murder called for a thorough investigation.

“A young guy who was returning home to be married was slain in his village last night (Tuesday), along with his fiancée and the brother who was transporting them in his Keke,” he added (tricycle). This occurred in Ndiejezie Izuogu in Imo State’s Ideato LGA.

In response to our complaints about the careless abduction, homicide, and vehicle burning in Arondizuogu last year, the police spokesperson informed me that action was being taken.

But since then, there have been daily murders and kidnappings. No one from Arondizuogu returned for Christmas or the New Year. The few people who arrived struggled to maneuver their autos. Following the event from last night, there was a major departure of residents from Arondizuogu this morning (Wednesday).

“The hoodlums specialize in robbing owners of expensive automobiles and murdering them if they refuse to give their vehicles. Sometimes the method involves burning automobiles. In Arondizuogu, we are no longer secure.
