Ronaldo will now receive the highest salary of any player in history after Manchester United receives a new offer.

According to CNN Portugal, Manchester United has received a £25 million bid for Cristiano Ronaldo.

The massive offer comes from an undisclosed Saudi Arabian club, who also made the Portugal star a staggering pay offer.

Ronaldo did not report for the team’s preseason or accompany them on their preseason tour of Asia and Australia because he has informed Manchester United that he intends to leave Old Trafford this summer.

Bayern Munich, Chelsea, Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain, Roma, and Sporting Lisbon have all been mentioned in connection with the 37-year-old.

But Manchester United has made it clear that they won’t be offloading their lone star striker this summer, and new manager Erik ten Hag intends to keep the striker in his lineup.

The primary factor driving the five-time Ballon d’Or winner’s desire to leave the club is their failure to qualify for the Champions League this summer.

However, according to CNN Portugal, Ronaldo has received a significant offer from Saudi Arabia, which would make him the highest-paid athlete in history.

But doing so would require him to give up playing European football.

Ronaldo would receive an absolutely staggering €250,000,000 (£211,000,000) over two seasons under the offer, which is probably sponsored by Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund.

In the Saudi Pro League, that would equate to well over £105 million per season, or £2 million per week — more than five times what he presently makes at Old Trafford.

The offer is completely unusual, and it would undoubtedly take a salary that high to persuade Ronaldo to leave European football when he still has hope of adding more championships and honors to his resume.

Although Manchester United has stated they do not wish to sell the football legend this summer, there have been hints that if they were to receive a sizable bid for the former Real Madrid and Juventus goal machine, their position would soften.

The Red Devils were hoping for a bid that would match the upfront payment of £12.9 million they gave Juventus last summer, plus other add-ons that may bring the total to £19.5 million.

However, the Saudi club is rumored to have already sent £25 million to Manchester United.

Jorge Mendes, Ronaldo’s agent, will also receive almost £17 million from the transaction.
