Ike Ekweremadu, a former deputy senate president, and his wife Beatrice have petitioned the Federal High Court in Abuja to order the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) and other parties to divulge details about David Nwamini Ukpo, a young man they claim offered to donate a kidney to their sick daughter.

They submitted the motion as one of the reliefs in a lawsuit through their attorney, Adegboyega Awomolo (SAN).

The Comptroller General (C-G), Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Stanbic-IBTC Bank, United Bank of Africa (UBA), and Nigeria Inter-Bank Settlement System Plc are named as respondents with NIMC in the lawsuit.

They claimed, among other things, that the respondents’ information and papers were necessary for their defense in the action brought against them in a British court.

Ekweremadu and his wife are asking the court to require the NIMC to give them the Certified True Copy (CTC) of Ukpo’s bio data in the lawsuit designated FHC/ABJ/CS/984/2022.

They demanded that the agency produce Ukpo’s National Identification Number (NIN), 19438077110, in order to facilitate the criminal investigation and offer it as evidence of their innocence with regard to Ukpo’s age in the criminal accusations brought against them before the Uxbridge Magistrate Court.

The couple also requests that the court order the NIS C-G to turn over the paperwork and application form for the issuance of an international passport with the number BO0569974 that are in the possession of the second respondent in order to aid in a criminal investigation, and to present those materials to the Uxbridge Magistrate Court in the UK until July 7 in connection with the alleged criminal charge brought against the applicants.

In order to prove their innocence regarding their age in the criminal charges brought against them, they are asking the court to issue an order directing the Stanbic-IBTC Bank to make the CTC of the mandate card and account opening package of account No. 0032551834 maintained by its customer, Ukpo, with Bank Verification Number 22509616391 in the bank’s custody, available.

Ekweremadu and his wife are asking the court to order the UBA to give them the CTC of the mandate card and the account opening package for the account No. 2195739574 kept by Ukpo with the Bank Verification Number 22509616391 in the bank’s possession so they can tender them as evidence of their innocence.
