Buhari Was the Target of the Kogi Explosion, According to ISWAP Terrorists

The latest explosion in Kogi State has been blamed on the Islamic State in West Africa Province (ISWAP).

President Muhammadu Buhari, who was scheduled to be in the region that day, was the target of the blast, according to the Boko Haram group sponsored by the Islamic State.

Three people were killed and two others were wounded in an explosion that occurred near to the historic palace of the Ohinoyi of Ebiraland, according to a previous report by Naija News.

Before the explosion was heard before to the Nigerian president’s arrival on Thursday, December 29, President Buhari was scheduled to launch several legacy projects by Governor Yahaya Bello.

President Buhari came in the state despite the tension and continued with the project commissioning.

ISWAP allegedly issued a statement in the new year claiming that the assault was carried out by “soldiers of the caliphate.”

In a statement seen by SaharaReporters, the terrorist organization stated that a vehicle bomb was deployed and that the President, who was in the region, was the intended victim.

According to Naija News, this was not the first incident in Kogi State for which the terrorist organization has claimed responsibility.

The ISWAP terrorists in Kogi have recently carried out many assaults, one of which being an explosion on May 11 at a pub in the Lewu Junction neighborhood of Kabba town. Although 16 people were impacted by the explosion, three people died in it.

Another explosion then occurred in the town’s Kabbah-Bunu Local Government Area, at a bar. The terrorists also claimed credit for the explosion that killed two people at an annual festival in the Idoji neighborhood of Okene, Kogi, in June 2022.

The organization also claimed responsibility for the assault on two Nigerian government cars that occurred a few days later in the Adavi Local Government Area of Kogi State.

Later, on October 18, the gang claimed its warriors attacked Blood of Jesus Parish, a celestial church in Lokoja, the state capital of Kogi, murdering two people and injured a number of others.

    I don’t know why the government have allowed them to be.
