Five people are slain while fighting off robbers in Bauchi.

In the Alkaleri Local Government Area of Bauchi State, the police and hunters engaged in gun engagements that resulted in the deaths of four suspected bandits and kidnappers.
While the thugs murdered one citizen, security personnel detained four suspects and freed six abduction victims.

In a statement released on Sunday, the state police public relations officer, Ahmed Wakil, said an operation was carried out on January 9, 2023, based on solid information that an armed gang had assaulted Dan Village via the Duguri District of the Alkaleri LGA at approximately 11 p.m.

During the siege, the gunmen, according to Wakil, a superintendent of police, attacked the home of Saleh Umar (also known as Saleh Burga), 70, and killed him.
The hoodlums allegedly shot the victim many times.

“Police operatives were sent upon the receipt of this information and rushed to the location. But as soon as they saw the police unit, the criminals fled. The man was taken by ambulance to Gar Primary Health Care Center in Bauchi, but a doctor subsequently declared him dead.

“However, efforts were stepped up in an attempt to track down and capture the criminals so they could face the consequences of their actions.

As a result, on December 10, 2023, police officers working with locals ambushed and killed two of the armed kidnappers, while the other suspects were brought down by the operatives’ superior firepower and forced to flee in confusion into the adjacent woods with suspected gunshot wounds.

Wakil said that a single AK-47 weapon, together with three magazines and four live 7.6239mm rounds, were discovered.

A cottage thought to be a kidnapper’s shelter was discovered by members of the command’s anti-kidnapping unit in Alkaleri on January 10, 2023, while on a normal patrol in cooperation with hunters close to Dajin Madam and Yankari woodland, according to a police spokesperson.
Three individuals were reportedly taken into custody after the agents roped off the area.

Accordingly, a search was done at the suspected hut, and 22 rounds of 7-62.51 mm NATO ammunition were found there, the speaker stated.

All three accused admitted under questioning that they had participated in many abduction operations around the Alkaleri axis.

Additionally, on January 7, 2023, at 2.30 p.m., in response to an intelligence tip, a team of police agents and local hunters attacked a kidnappers’ hideaway close to Mansur Forest.

As a result, three functional bikes (Honda Bajaj) and a fake SMG gun were also found during the operation, neutralizing two of the robbers.
