Transfer: Kounde is pleased about the possibility of teaming up with Chelsea’s newest recruit

Jules Kounde, a French international, is allegedly enthused about the prospect of playing alongside Kalidou Koulibaly, Chelsea’s newest acquisition, at Stamford Bridge as Blues co-owner Todd Boehly attempts to outbid Barcelona for the services of the Sevilla center-back in the coming days.

Following the departures of Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen to Real Madrid and Barcelona, respectively, Chelsea are eager to sign more center-backs for their manager, Thomas Tuchel, ahead of the impending new season.

Chelsea’s defensive unit may yet lose players as Barcelona looks to capture Marcos Alonso and captain Cesar Azpilicueta before the summer transfer window shuts.

Koulibaly’s transfer from Napoli cost Chelsea about £33 million, but Tuchel is aware that additional reinforcements are required if Chelsea hopes to compete with Premier League rivals Manchester City and Liverpool next year.

According to CBS Sports, Kounde has been named as Tuchel’s top target, and Chelsea is hoping that a deal can be reached this week to sign the 23-year-old.

Sevilla is seeking £51 million for Kounde and secretly hoping Barcelona, led by the player’s renowned lover Xavi, will engage Chelsea in a bidding war.

However, it looks like Chelsea is in the lead right now. Kounde is reportedly eager to join Tuchel’s team and partner with Koulibaly.
