After an Israeli combined security forces raid in the West Bank, many people died.

According to the Palestinian Ministry of Health, an Israeli military operation early on Tuesday morning in the West Bank’s historic city of Nablus resulted in at least four Palestinian deaths.

Responding to the protests, Palestinians flocked to the streets, and a fifth demonstrator was killed by Israeli forces near Nabi Saleh, which is north of the city of Ramallah, according to the ministry.

Four of the additional 21 injured Palestinians are in critical condition.

According to a joint statement from Israeli security services, the operation was conducted on a hideaway that was being used by “operatives of the ‘Lion’s Den’ terrorist group (‘Arin Alousud’) as a headquarters and a facility for the manufacture of explosives.”

It was further stated that the group was “responsible for carrying out the shooting attack that killed (Israel Defense Forces) soldier Staff-Sargent Ido Baruch, as well as for attempting to carry out a terrorist attack in Tel Aviv (an attack that was thwarted by the Israel Police), and for planting an explosive device in the ‘Kedumim’ gas station.”

The report said that Israeli security forces had “detonated the bomb production plant,” adding that many armed suspects had been wounded and that “dozens of Palestinians had burnt tires and thrown rocks at the army” throughout the operation.

The statement read, “The armed suspects who were firing at them were met by live fire by the (Israeli) military.”

Israeli forces stormed a number of Nablus neighborhoods, according to the official Palestinian news agency Wafa, “where the sounds of shooting and explosions were heard and columns of smoke and flames were seen emanating from a number of neighborhoods,” before residents and Israeli military forces engaged in fierce combat.

Additionally, Wafa stated that the Israeli military later dispatched troops supported by drones.

Speaking early on Tuesday on Palestinian television, a presidential spokeswoman claimed that the president of Palestine “is making urgent appeals to cease the onslaught on our people in Nablus.”

The Nablus Brigade was allegedly “involved in intense armed confrontations” with Israeli military troops who had “stormed the city,” according to a statement from Saraya al-Quds, the Armed Wing of Islamic Jihad.

In the West Bank, this year has already been the deadliest for Palestinians since 2015, according to the Palestinian Ministry of Health.

Israel claims it is targeting terrorists and their weapon depots in order to prevent them from entering Israel and carrying out attacks by conducting regular raids on West Bank communities, concentrating particularly on Jenin and Nablus.
