Appointments for Amuneke and Amadi confirmed by Zanaco

Zanaco FC, a seven-time champion in Zambia, announced Wednesday that former African Footballer of the Year Emmanuel Amuneke has joined the coaching staff as a consultant.

The former Super Eagles head coach and his Nigerian assistant and goalkeepers trainer, Emeka Amadi, are reportedly set to begin working seriously this week, according to reports in the Zambian press.

According to a release from the team, “The Board and Management of Zanaco Football Club is thrilled to announce the signing of Mr. Emmanuel Amuneke and his Assistant Mr. Emeka Amadi as Consultants to the Coaching bench of Zanaco Football Club.”

Former international football player from Nigeria and licensed coach with the UEFA is Mr. Emmanuel Amuneke. He represented teams like Sporting Lisbon in Portugal and Barcelona in Spain while playing international football in Europe.

The Nigeria U-17 National Team won the FIFA U-17 Male World Cup in 2013 in the United Arab Emirates and in 2015 in Chile under the leadership of Mr. Amuneke, who has been coaching for eighteen years. In Spain, Nigeria, Sudan, and Egypt, he served as a coach for numerous National Clubs. He served as the head coach of Tanzania’s senior national team, which, after 39 years, qualified for the Africa Nations Cup in 2019, and served as assistant coach of Nigeria’s Super Eagles national football team in 2016.

“He received a 2015 Confederation of African Football (CAF) nomination for African Coach of the Year.

“The Zanaco Football Club Board is optimistic that Mr. Amuneke’s coaching expertise will benefit the Technical Team and the Club overall.

“The Zanaco Football Club Board looks forward to working with Mr. Amuneke and his Assistant to ensure that the club realizes its ambitions.”
