Attending Shehu of Borno’s daughter’s wedding with Osinbajo and others

A presidential delegation was led by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo to the wedding of Alhaji Abubakar El-Kanemi, the daughter of the Shehu of Borno, which took place in Maiduguri, the state capital, on Saturday.

The Chief of Staff to the President, Prof. Ibrahim Gambari, the Director General of the National Intelligence Agency, Major General Babagana Monguno, the Chief Executive Officer of the Nigeria National Petroleum Company Limited, Mele Kyari, and a former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Amb. Babagana Kingibe were also included in the delegation.

There were a large number of dignitaries, politicians, traditional leaders and their courtiers, and well-wishers from all across the nation present for the event, which was held in the major mosque in Maiduguri.

86 emirs and chiefs from around the nation were present during the royal wedding of Umar Sidi Bage, the son of the emir of Lafiya, and Aisha, the daughter of the shehu.

Babagana Zulum, the governor of Borno State, spoke on behalf of the bride’s family, while Abdullahi Sule, the governor of Nasarawa State, spoke on behalf of the groom’s family.

Imam Laisu Ibrahim, the Chief Imam of Borno, performed the marriage ceremony in front of the Shehu after receiving the bride fee of N1m.

Later, prayers for peaceful elections in 2023 as well as for the stability of Borno and the whole nation were said.

Later, a launch was held in the presidential lodge at the Government House with the Vice President and other dignitaries as guests.
