Dangote Industries Limited has always shown its dedication to the growth of Nigeria’s economy via investments, value creation, and continual innovation.

It has been highlighted that Dangote made enormous economic contributions to Nigeria, and that his influence was felt in practically every sphere of the nation.

At its special day at the just finished 2022 Lagos International Trade show, the company reiterated this.

“The president/chief executive of Dangote Industries, Aliko Dangote, is passionate about deepening the Nigerian economy through industrialization, job creation, provision and rehabilitation of essential infrastructure, and the welfare of the citizens,” said Hajiya Halima Aliko-Dangote, group executive director of commercial operations.

“This is why we are committed to working as strategic partners with all of the main Chambers of Commerce in the country, and why we support their events. Our attendance at all significant trade shows in Nigeria illustrates our support for the idea that chambers of commerce and industry have a special role in promoting economic growth via their initiatives, the speaker said.

The chief commercial officer of the Dangote Group, Rabiu Umar, spoke on behalf of Halima Aliko-Dangote, who stated: “The theme of the 2022 Lagos International Trade Fair, ‘Connecting Businesses, Creating Value,’ resonates with us at Dangote Group, as our investment decisions are focused on creating values for all stakeholders across our subsidiaries.

“We have made investments in a number of initiatives designed to boost the fast industrialization of the Nigerian economy and generate employment. With operations in 10 African nations, Dangote Cement Plc continues to be the largest manufacturer of cement on the continent. Through its multiplier effect, the cement company’s operations support millions of people’s direct and indirect jobs across Africa.

She gave a glimpse inside the operations of the subsidiaries and said that Dangote Cement’s operations had a multiplier effect, creating both direct and indirect employment for millions of people across Africa.

She said, “Through different programs, our food subsidiaries, Dangote Sugar Refinery, NASCON Allied Industries (Dangote Salt), and Dangote Rice are creating employment. Numerous farmers in the host villages now have work because to Dangote Sugar Refinery’s out-grower program.

When the Dangote Petroleum Refinery is operational, it will spur the growth of auxiliary companies that will use the byproducts as raw materials. “The arrival of Dangote Fertilizer has to a large part contributed to reshape the face of agriculture in Nigeria.”

According to Aliko-Dangote, the Aliko Dangote Foundation, the VDMA (the German Association for Mechanical and Plant Engineering), and its Foundation for Young Talent in Mechanical Engineering collaborated in order to help Nigerians acquire the required industrial and technical skills (Nachwuchsstiftung Maschinenbau gGmbH-NWS).

“In this ground-breaking initiative, we hired young Nigerians to get training in a variety of engineering disciplines so they would be prepared to work in the manufacturing industry. After an arduous 18-month training program, we graduated the first group of 118 students in October,” she said.

She said, “We hired graduates of engineering and other technology-based degrees and taught them on various elements of industrial operations in order to fill the gap in certain of our factories. Later, we used these professionals in our facilities in Obajana, Ibese, Gboko, as well as our sugar and salt refineries in Apapa and Ikeja.

“We have hired hundreds of graduates from engineering-based programs and sent them overseas for training for our oil refinery and fertiliser plant. These groups of experts will manage the new facilities and impart their expertise to other groups of engineers.

Giving a guy a fish would only provide him with food for a day; teaching him to fish, however, will provide him with food for the rest of his life, she said. The abilities will enable them to support their families and other dependents financially.

During the ceremony, Dangote Sugar Refinery also presented its new retail sugar bags. Rilwan Olawale Yusuf, the head of sales and marketing at the Dangote Sugar Refinery, stated during the reveal that the new packs, which are available in three variations of 1 kg, 500 g, and 250 g, would boost on-shelf brand exposure and increase customer preference for “our brand.” He claims that the new product packaging will create a distinct differentiator and improve the pack’s appeal.

The Dangote Industries Limited’s persistent efforts to provide fundamental infrastructure via different intervention projects have been applauded by the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI).

Dr. Micheal Olawale-Cole, president of the LCCI, said that the leading indigenous conglomerate has made a substantial contribution to offering answers to the issues that governments have been unable to resolve in the areas of food sufficiency, road development, housing, and energy.

While its goods and services have impacted the lives of millions of people on the African continent and beyond, he pointed out that Dangote Group has been at the forefront of employment creation.

He urged other business entities to follow in Dangote’s footsteps by helping the government build infrastructure, even if it means using a tax credit program put in place by the federal government.

The Dangote Group has participated in the LITF throughout the years as an exhibitor, but they are now a strategic partner of the fair, according to Olawale-Cole. Millions of people on the African continent and beyond have benefited from the group’s goods and services. The Dangote Group has significantly increased the gross domestic product (GDP) of many African nations while also creating millions of jobs throughout the continent.

He pointed out that the soon-to-be-opened Dangote Refinery is anticipated to be the most industrialized project in recent memory and stated that the refinery is anticipated to address the ongoing issue of petroleum importation and significantly increase the output of the nation.

In order to create a supportive regulatory environment where the private sector can flourish, create jobs, and bring in revenue for the government, he urged the government to critically examine the issues affecting businesses.

According to him, the majority of these businesses operate in a very difficult operating environment that is characterized by fluctuating foreign exchange rates, rising inflation, weak consumer demand, and a weak infrastructure (including a lack of reliable electricity supply), among other factors that are affecting businesses amid the current global economic uncertainties.

With a 2016 annual group turnover of over $4 billion and active operations in Nigeria and across Africa in a variety of industries, such as cement, sugar, salt, condiments, packaging, energy, port operations, fertiliser, and petrochemicals, Dangote Industries Limited is a diversified and fully integrated conglomerate.
