Official from the Biden non-binary nuclear party accused of snatching a woman’s bags at the airport

In September, just before covertly taking a leave of absence, Sam Brinton, a senior Energy Department (DOE) employee, was accused of snatching a traveler’s baggage in the Minneapolis airport.

According to a criminal complaint filed on October 26 in Minnesota state court and obtained by MINIECHAT Digital, Brinton, who is the DOE’s deputy assistant secretary for spent fuel and waste disposition, is accused of stealing a Vera Bradley suitcase valued at $2,325 from the luggage carousel at the Minneapolis St. Paul Airport (MSP) on September 16. Brinton had made the trip to MSP that day from Washington, D.C.

According to court documents, once the owner of the bag called the police, authorities looked over footage of the luggage carousel and saw Brinton grabbing the suitcase before pulling off its owner-identifying tag. Brinton was seen by law officials using the bags on at least two further visits to Washington, D.C., on September 18 and October 9.

Then, on October 9, when a police officer contacted to talk about the event, Brinton denied taking anything. Brinton acknowledged still having the bag.

As soon as the Senate confirmed it, BIden’s energy secretary met with Bill Gates.

Brinton informed the officer, “I don’t have any clothing for another person. If I had stolen the incorrect suitcase, I am willing to return it. “When I unzipped the bag, I found my clothing inside.”

Brinton contacted the officer again two hours later and apologized for not being “fully honest.” Brinton, though, admitted that it was an error and blamed being sleepy for selecting the incorrect bag at the carousel.

The court documents indicated that the defendant claimed they discovered the luggage was not theirs when they opened it at the hotel. “DEFENDANT were anxious that others would assume they had stolen the luggage and were helpless. DEFENDANT said that they had left the bag of clothing in the hotel room’s drawers.

Brinton was finally accused with felony theft of moveable goods without authorization, which carries a potential term of five years in prison, a fine of $10,000, or both.

The accusations against Brinton were originally made public on Monday by Minnesota-based publication Alpha News.

According to the Exchange Monitor, which analyzes government employment, Brinton was put on leave approximately a month ago, and a new official was selected early this month. The DOE didn’t elaborate on Brinton’s leave of absence at the time.

One of the first non-binary federal employees, Brinton made news in June after taking a job at the DOE’s Office of Nuclear Energy.

In October, Brinton told E&E News that “there have been a lot of individuals who are pretty unhappy because they don’t believe that I am nearly as competent as others.” I reply that I have numerous graduate degrees from MIT, have worked in nuclear policy for ten years, and have the most zeal for the field of nuclear waste of anybody.

Requests for response from the DOE and Brinton’s attorney were not immediately complied with.
