The results of the presidential elections held on Saturday in Imo and Anambra, according to Yiaga Africa, are at odds with their predictions for the states.

The 2023 presidential elections are once again a squandered opportunity: INEC must undergo substantial transformation, according to the organization’s post-election statement.

Samson Itodo, Executive Director of Yiaga Africa, and Dr. Aisha Abdullahi, Chair Watching The Vote, signed it together.

They claimed that the Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) results had been rigged.

The Yiaga Africa WTV estimates for Imo and Rivers are at odds with the state-level presidential outcomes for both states. In Rivers, INEC reported 231,591 votes, or 44.2 percent, for the APC, 175,071 votes, or 33.4 percent, and 88,468 votes, or 16.9 percent, for the PDP.

This is in stark contrast to the Yiaga Africa WTV predictions for Rivers, which show the APC at 21.7 percent, the LP at 50.8 percent, and the PDP at 22.2 percent, respectively.

“For Imo, INEC reported 30,234 for PDP, or 6.5 percent, 66,406 for LP, or 14.2 percent, and 360,495 for APC, or 14.2 percent. Once again, this is in contrast to the Yiaga Africa WTV predictions for Imo, which are: APC 5.1 2.3 percent; LP 88.1 3.8 percent; and PDP 5.7 2.3 percent.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) received more votes, according to reports from 97% of the polling units (PUs) that were sampled by the organization.

APC should receive between 34.4 percent and 37.4 percent of the vote, LP should receive between 24.2 percent and 28.4 percent of the votes, New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) should receive between 4.6 percent and 6.4 percent of the vote, and People’s Democratic Party (PDP) should receive between 28.3 percent and 31.1 percent of the vote, according to reports from 97 percent (1,453 of 1507) of the sampled polling units.

The study made many recommendations, including that INEC continue to publish the PU results from EC 8A on its IReV site and address the discrepancies in some of the results, particularly those from the states of Rivers and Imo.
