Tinubu: A New Dawn Has Come For Nigeria, Says IBB

General (retired) Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida (IBB), a former military ruler of Nigeria, congratulated Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu on becoming the Federal Republic of Nigeria’s 16th president.

IBB praised the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for overseeing an election, which he said will usher in a new Nigeria, in a statement released by his media office on Wednesday.

Babangida applauded Nigerians for exercising their right to vote in large numbers and choosing Bola Ahmed Tinubu to be the country’s future leader.

“It’s a thing of delight that this is occurring in my lifetime,” he said. I’m sure enough that Tinubu is the right guy for the job.

“I am certain Tinubu will serve as Nigeria’s president. For those of us who have been there before, I am aware that there is still work to be done, and I am confident in Tinubu’s ability to move Nigeria forward.

“As a country, we have a lot of potential. What we need is a clear path forward so that we can maintain our status as Africa’s giant. Our best is undoubtedly yet to come, but with perseverance and dedication, we can get there.

Babangida said that Tinubu comes from a history as a performer and that he has a deep affection for his people and the ability to fit a round peg into a round hole.

In addition to pleading with Nigerians to work alongside Tinubu to rebuild the country, he made an appeal to other candidates, stressing that nation-building takes all hands on deck, to recognize the former Lagos Governor’s victory as God’s will.

“This is a hopeful time for Nigeria; we must take control of our destiny and make the country work for us. We cannot go on operating in the same manner, and I am certain that God will restore order to our nation, he said, adding that a new day had dawned for Nigeria.
