TUCKER CARLSON: Humor is necessary for a free society.

A comedian is Josh Denny. You may be familiar with him. He was once employed at the Food Network. Additionally, he is openly and personally pro-life.

Denny was getting ready to present a comedy concert in Rutherford, New Jersey, earlier this month. That is approximately a half-hour drive from New York, but Antifa, a violent, extreme organization, chose to cancel the event minutes after it was announced.

Numerous Twitter accounts connected to Antifa began tormenting the Williams Center. Additionally, they threatened to use violence against John Russo, the Rutherford police chief. A police chief who wished to uphold the Constitution at that time would have resisted and recognized every American’s precious right to free speech, but that is not what Chief Russo did. Instead, he gave in to the mob’s demands.

He cautioned the venue that if they let free speech to continue or the performance to go on, the venue may be held legally liable. Then he said that he would end the broadcast for “public safety reasons.” Therefore, the Williams Center was forced to cancel the performance. In the end, just a few police officers arrived to the Williams Center that evening, and they were there to make sure that no comedy was being performed at all.

Then, to add salt to injury, Rutherford, New Jersey’s mayor, Frank Nunziato, boasted about what the city had accomplished the next morning. He said that it was his choice to reduce humor using governmental authority. Unbeknownst to the borough, an event was scheduled for this evening at the Williams Center, according to Nunziato, and word of it swiftly spread on social media. The police department had reason to suspect that the situation may have resulted in a direct confrontation based on online information. As a result, after speaking with the owner, the event has been canceled, Nunziato added.

DAVE CHAPPELLE’S “SNL” MONOLOGUE’S “SUBJECT MATTER,” AS SAID BY JERRY SEINFELD, “CALLS FOR A CONVERSATION.”

Now take note of the possibility for conflict and the shifting of blame here. The comic wasn’t going to confront or violently threaten anybody. It was the extreme leftist organization Antifa. But the comic received the punishment.

Josh Denny has gone through situations like this before. Just in the last several weeks, it has occurred four times. Threats from the left caused shows to be canceled. The same trend was repeated when two performances were canceled in Chicago and another two in New York. Denny would plan a comedic performance. Then, a sizable number of Twitter accounts connected to Antifa intimidated the location and local authorities, who buckled under the pressure and ordered it shut down.

Denny is mute at this point. The only way he can conduct a performance north of the Mason-Dixon Line at this time is by giving his admirers cryptic directions on where to meet covertly, as at a speakeasy. If he doesn’t do this, Antifa will just need to post a few tweets to kill free speech, and weak leaders will instantly submit.

Josh Denny is not the only performer who has come under attack, and comedians are not the only ones. Naturally, this is a small component of a far broader effort to suppress free expression in the United States, a nation where it was just a few years ago when free speech was considered the national religion. This is a significant and alarming development. Anyone who asserts that you are not allowed to express your true beliefs is a totalitarian.

TICKETMASTER FIASCO: TAYLOR SWIFT BREAK SILENCE

Don’t be misled. It’s not a sensitive issue. You are being controlled here. It is totalitarian. Tonight, we’ll start by discussing what’s happening to comedians since they are essential to a free society. We convey the truth via comedy. It is not a coincidence that we are running short of comedians. The existence of comedians in a society allows you to parody the ruling class very rapidly. Now, only rote humor is accepted, which is another way of stating that comedy is not accepted. In a recent interview with the satire website The Babylon Bee, Elon Musk brought this up.

Then you start to wonder, “Wait a minute, is the comedy getting at an essential truth or is there a propaganda element? Is it trying to push you in a certain direction?” or “Is the comedy getting at an essential truth that is humorous?” ELON MUSK: And when it stops attempting to reveal a humorous truth at its core, it’s just not that funny anymore.

Twitter, as if to demonstrate that it has no sense of humor at all, banned the Babylon Bee following that interview. Their offense? They made fun of the fake trans admiral of the administration, the man dressed as a woman. Who Elon Musk did after that is well known. He purchased Twitter. We’ll talk to the CEO of the Babylon Bee shortly to discuss what Musk needs to do to bring back free speech in this nation.

At this point, it is evident that Twitter improved after Elon Musk let go of half of its staff. Why? they were the censors, after all. And Twitter isn’t the only business whose employees frequently act as censors to restrict your right to express yourself.

Last year, protesters, some of whom were Netflix staff members, gathered outside the company’s headquarters to call for the censorship of Dave Chappelle. Observe this.

PROTESTANTS: What are we seeking? Accountability! How soon do we need it? Now. What are we after? Accountability. How soon do we need it? Now.

PROTESTER: Laughing is acceptable, but doing so will only encourage hate speech.

TRANS LIFE MATTER, SAY THE PROTESTERS! Trans lives are valuable!

Why is he disregarding my sign, I protest?

PROTESTER: He’s carrying a gun! He possesses a weapon!

As a result, the same phenomenon that is canceling comedians across the nation also existed at Netflix and Twitter. a small number of intensely motivated, politically enraged extremists who silence the majority when it speaks its mind. That also goes by the name of tyranny, and it exists everywhere.

Adam Carolla, a longtime comedian who has stayed true and thus funny, is one of the few people in Hollywood willing to fight back against this and say what he really thinks. He mocked the people you just saw as exactly what they are: humorous babies.

ADMIR CAROLLA I need to make it clear to the Netflix employees that while their work is interesting, it doesn’t really affect people’s opinions or change their hearts and minds. People seem to have this idea that Dave Chappelle will mobilize a section of our society that never really seems to be mobilized because his words are hurtful and will lead to X, Y, and Z. Not at all, no. He performs comedy. He is free to express himself, after which he is paid, you are paid, and that is what is referred to as entertainment.

He has the freedom to express himself because he is a comedian. Many places no longer follow this rule, but Adam Carolla continues to live by it.
