Voters in Enugu want an extension of the election

Several voters in Enugu State have complained about the materials being late and the BVAS systems failing in their voting places.

Remember that MINIECHAT said that materials and INEC staff had not reached the voting places as of 10:05am. At midday, INEC personnel had arrived at several voting places with a defective and inoperable BVAS.

Chibuzo Uzoenyi, a voter at Michael Okpara Square, said that INEC is trying to rig the south-eastern results. He said that unless the election was prolonged to the next day, it was impossible for everyone to cast a ballot at Okpara Square.

He said that Enugu citizens should be let to vote for the candidate of their choice and for their votes to be counted.

Another elderly lady who insisted she must vote claimed to have been at New Haven Primary School since the morning but hadn’t voted as of yet since the authorities and supplies arrived late.

“The voters are supposed to decide in this election. I left this morning and I have to cast my vote even if I have to remain here till tomorrow. I won’t leave till I cast my ballot. The issue we are facing is INEC. They didn’t show up as scheduled. People poured out in large numbers, but INEC is coming.
