A dancer in a Weinstein movie claims that Harvey sexually assaulted her.

A dancer in a Harvey Weinstein-produced movie testified on Thursday that she was initially “freaked out” when she first met the producer on the Puerto Rican set, but that his assistant’s presence and reassurance convinced her it was OK to accompany him to his hotel, where she was subsequently sexually assaulted.

The woman claimed to be 22 years old in 2003 when she worked as a dancing double for one of the stars of “Dirty Dancing: Havana Nights,” a movie made by Weinstein’s company Miramax. She went by the names Ashley M. and Ashley M. at the Los Angeles courtroom where Weinstein is accused of rape and sexual assault.

She claimed that Bonnie Hung, Weinstein’s secretary at the time, assured her that she would stay with the two of them the entire time and that he was only interested in discussing upcoming endeavors.

I started to grow more nervous, but Bonnie was there with her clipboard, she added as they moved down the hallway of Weinstein’s hotel toward a door.

She paused as she started to sob, “Harvey opened it, then he went in and I went in.” Bonnie then closed the door behind us. Oh dear, what do I do? I thought to myself.

She claimed Weinstein turned violent right away, forcing her onto the bed, removing her top, straddling her, and masturbating on top of her despite her requests for him to stop.

The woman was the first of four witnesses who were not involved in the allegations against Weinstein but were permitted to speak in order to demonstrate a tendency for such behavior by Weinstein. She was the second complainant to testify against him throughout the trial.

Before the woman’s evidence, Judge Lisa B. Lench informed the jury that they will be given instructions on how to evaluate it afterwards.

In Los Angeles, Weinstein has entered a not guilty plea to four counts of rape and seven additional counts of sexual assault. Weinstein is already serving a 23-year term for a New York conviction that is currently being appealed. He has consistently denied having any sex that wasn’t consent.

Late on Thursday, Ashley M. approached the podium looking uneasy. Before any questions could be answered, she started crying.

She repeatedly apologized before Judge Lisa Lench, who responded that she had nothing to apologize for and requested a little break.

She composed herself and started to speak, stating that she had previously been a professional ballet dancer who had just switched to performing in Hollywood.

She claimed that Weinstein asked her to leave the set when he showed up when they were filming in a ballroom.

Weinstein allegedly asked for a naked massage from her, and according to Ashley M., she tried to pacify him by telling him she was engaged and needed on set.

She claimed Weinstein told her he was in charge and had the authority to pick who was required on set.

She called her mother and her ex-fiance, who advised her to ask for assistance from other cast members.

Then someone announced that a dinner break was necessary.

She said, “I thought, ‘whew, saved by the bell’.”

She asked the film’s choreographer and a producer what to do at the intermission, but she got the impression that they didn’t want to annoy Weinstein.

Did any of them assist you in any way? Marlene Martinez, a deputy district attorney, enquired.

Ashley M. answered, “No.

Then, how did you feel? Martnez enquired.

The witness said, “Freaked out.”

When they got back to the set, according to Ashley M., Weinstein and Hung were waiting there in a limo.

She said, “Just knowing I wasn’t alone made me feel better.

Unless a victim has come forward publicly, The Associated Press normally does not identify anyone who claim they have experienced sexual abuse.

When the New York Times published tales from women who claimed Harvey Weinstein had sexually assaulted them, placing the film executive at the forefront of the #MeToo movement, Ashley M. shared her experience with the publication.

She spoke in front of the jury for the first time on Thursday.

On Friday, Ashley M. is anticipated to take the witness stand once more to answer further questions from the prosecution before being subjected to cross-examination by Weinstein’s defense.
