Two days after joining the Los Angeles Rams, Baker Mayfield leads the team to an unlikely victory.

Baker Mayfield, the quarterback, adapted to his new teammates extremely fast on Thursday when the Los Angeles Rams played the Las Vegas Raiders after the Los Angeles Rams claimed him off waivers on Tuesday.

In a thrilling start, Mayfield guided the Rams back from a 16-3 hole, and they won 17-16 with a 98-yard drive in the last two minutes of the game with no timeouts.

After the victory, Mayfield stated as quarterback walked into the Amazon Thursday Night Football stage, “It’s been a crazy 48 hours.”

He gave the “I have no clue” response when asked what had transpired.

The Cleveland Browns chose to part ways with Mayfield and sign Deshaun Watson, thus they moved him to the Carolina Panthers, where he began the season. Carolina dismissed Mayfield on Monday, the former Heisman Trophy winner and first overall selection.

When the Panthers decided to release Mayfield, the question of whether he knew he would join the Rams was posed.

I took a chance, he admitted. “I made the airline reservations before the waiver wire cleared.”

great choice

Mayfield said that he will be prepared despite not being able to start. Due to Matthew Stafford’s absence, John Wolford, who has a neck problem, started. But it only lasted for one drive, and his team was already down by a score when it ended in a three-and-out. The Raiders then added a field goal to make the score 10-0.

Mayfield entered the game and struck Van Jefferson for 21 yards on his first play. He took them far enough to allow Matt Gay to kick a field goal from 55 yards out.

Mayfield’s second drive in the second quarter featured a long throw over the middle that was good for 22 yards and got the team to the Raiders’ 23-yard line. However, a fumble by running back Cam Akers negated their gains.

Later, in the third quarter, the Raiders would go on to win 16-3.

Mayfield, though, wasn’t done yet. First, he directed the Rams’ 17-play, 75-yard touchdown drive with 3:19 left to make it 16-10.

With 1:45 remaining and no timeouts, the Rams’ offense next received possession of the ball at their own 2-yard line. The Rams advanced down the field as a result of a combination of Mayfield’s throws and Raiders penalties. With 10 seconds remaining, Mayfield completed a 23-yard touchdown throw to Jefferson to end the drive. Their first and only lead came through Gay’s extra point.

With two seconds remaining, Taylor Rapp intercepted a ball from Derek Carr to give Los Angeles the victory. And with that, Mayfield’s hasty studies after arriving in California had proven successful.

To be really honest with you, this is up there. I didn’t anticipate it to turn out this way, but my gosh, I really am glad we covered the two-minute surgery, Mayfield remarked.

With 230 yards and one score on 22 of 35 passes, Mayfield had no interceptions. He received four dismissals.
