Falling one place in the October FIFA Ranking

Against November 9, the Super Eagles of Nigeria will take on the national team of Costa Rica in San Jose, the nation’s capital, in a major international friendly.

Three-time African champions have been invited to the country of Costa Rica as part of key events to send the Los Ticos to the FIFA World Cup finals in Qatar, according to NFF’s FIFA Match Agent Jairo Pachon of Eurodata Sport yesterday.

The game set for the National Stadium in San Jose will begin at 8 o’clock Costa Rica time, according to Ademola Olajire, the NFF’s Director of Communications (3am, November 10 in Nigeria).

Nigeria’s Falconets advanced to the quarterfinals of the FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup, beating France, Korea Republic, and Canada in the group round. Costa Rica served as the tournament’s host.

On November 17, the Super Eagles will play Portugal in another high-profile friendly in Lisbon.

According to the FIFA October world ranking, which was revealed yesterday, the Super Eagles have dropped one position to be rated 32nd in the globe.

They remain in fourth position on the continental scale, below Tunisia, Senegal, and Morocco. Senegal is ranked 18th globally (30th).

Brazil is positioned as the frontrunner, followed by Belgium and Argentina. England comes in at number five, followed by the defending champions France.

The lone change in the Top 10 worldwide was Italy moving up to sixth position, passing Spain, who is now in seventh.
